Our History. Privately owned, we started building above ground pools and in-ground pools in 1969, as a sub-contractor for many different pool companies in the Akron and Tallmadge areas.
In 1978, we incorporated Bal Harbor Construction, Inc. due to the expanding amount of work we were able to contract.
In an effort to better and more completely serve our clientele, Pooltown in Tallmadge, Ohio serving Akron area was opened for retail business in the spring of 1980.
We carry a full line of pool & spa chemicals , Hayward heaters and filters, Primo Grills and smokers.
Since that time, we have been honored to receive multiple awards for design innovation, integrity, and overall value.
Pooltown has been the only pool construction company in Northeastern Ohio to win three International Awards from the National Spa and Pool Institute. The Awards of Excellence we have received include:
- Gold Medal 1987 - Vinyl Liner Pool
- Best of Category, Gold Medal 1999 - Vinyl Liner
- Bronze Medal 2004 - Interior/Residential Vinyl Liner

FEATURED DESIGN.
This 2004 NSPI/APSP International Design Award of Excellence winner, vinyl liner pool, is a 16' X 40' interior diving pool with custom interior walk-in steps and double roman ends, all highlighted by synchronized incandescent and fiber-optic lighting.
Other features included on this pool are:
~ A BADU™ swim jet allowing swimmers to swim against a current and for resistance training,
~ Disappearing automatic pool cover,
~Comppool and Intellitouch controls,
